Safer play at casinos without a Spanish licence: your own rules of the match
The rulebook · budget, breaks and help
At a casino without a Spanish licence, the control tools are whatever the casino itself decides to offer, and sometimes that is not much. So the rules that matter most are yours: how much you play, for how long, and when you stop. Here are the ones that work.
Everything we score in the table of casinos without a Spanish licence is there to help you choose where to play. This page is for something else: for keeping play a form of entertainment.
Five rules before you deposit
- A budget per month, not per session. Decide how much you can lose in a month without it hurting, and do not go past it.
- A separate wallet. Move that budget into a wallet you use only for playing. When it is empty, your month is over.
- A fixed length. Set an alarm on your phone. Slots and fast games erase the sense of time passing.
- Never chase losses. What is lost is lost. Raising the stake to win it back is the quickest way to lose more.
- Withdraw what you win. A high balance sitting in the casino invites you to keep playing. Take it out, as we explain in withdrawal limits.
The casino's own tools
Look in your profile for a “responsible play” section. What you usually find is:
- A deposit limit, daily, weekly or monthly.
- A loss limit or a stake limit.
- A session reminder, which nudges you at set intervals.
- A break of a few days or weeks.
- Self-exclusion, longer or permanent.
Not every casino offers all of them. If the one you pick has none, weigh that when you choose: it is one more fact about how it treats its players. Lowering a limit usually applies immediately; raising one comes with a waiting period.
Crypto and fast games: double care
With cryptocurrencies the money moves in minutes and never passes through a bank, so the natural brake of a transfer is missing. And fast games, such as crash, dice or plinko, settle a round in seconds. Together they can empty a budget very quickly. If you play with crypto, read casinos without a Spanish licence with crypto as well.
Bonuses are a time trap too
Wagering of ×35 means staking the bonus 35 times before you can withdraw. That is a lot of hours of play. If a bonus is pushing you to play more than you meant to, do not take it. We explain it in casinos without a Spanish licence with a bonus.
Warning signs
- You play to win back what you have lost.
- You need to stake more to feel the same.
- You lie about, or hide, how much you play.
- You use money meant for something else: rent, bills, savings.
- You get restless or irritable when you are not playing.
If you recognise yourself in two or more, stop and talk to someone.
Where to ask for help in Spain
Jugar Bien (jugarbien.es) is Spain's responsible-gambling site, run by the consumer ministry. It has information, a self-assessment test and the contacts of organisations that help players and their families. You can also talk to your own doctor, who can refer you to a specialist service.
Asking for help is not an overreaction: the sooner it is done, the easier it is.
